Fielding Sweater in The Knitter Magazine Issue 79

My Fielding sweater design is in this month's Knitter Magazine! This feminine raglan sweater has "playful, bubble-like" cables on the back and front and contrasting stocking stitch sleeves. The beautiful yarn is Fyberspates Scrumptious Aran in Rose Pink.

The stitch pattern was inspired by bubble wrap packaging! The bubbles are made by increasing and decreasing in the centre of moving cables. The sides of the sweater and the underside of the sleeves are worked in rib.

The sleeves are worked in stocking stitch with a bubble motif at the cuff.

There are some really lovely designs in this issue of The Knitter, including Judy Furlong's Morag cardigan, Martin Storey's Skomer cable wrap, Katya Frankel's Cotswold sweater, Mary Henderson's Butterfly Tam, Juliet Bernard's Snofnugg scarf, Dee Hardwick's Reindeer runner and coasters and lots more!

The article about short row shaping by Jen Story shows how to avoid the little holes of the traditional wrap and turn technique. I love using short row shaping in my designs as I find that this technique makes shoulders look very flattering. It is also a great way to add a flash of colour in unexpected places. The garments that Jen has chosen to illustrate the technique are Katya Frankel's Cotswold sweater in this Issue and my Kagome Cardigan from Issue 77.
